Arrival is a hybrid virtual reality project prototyped in 2017 and produced by Jacqueline Olive, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, Danis Goulet, and Lisa Jackson. Using green screen production, 360 degree video, and computer-generated imagery (CGI), users embody the anonymous character of a young man on a mysterious bus ride. As The CITY BUS MOVES FROM URBAN STREETS TO THE EMPTY RURAL ROADS of ONTARIo, CA—tHE MORE THEY interact with strangers ALONG THE WAY, IT BECOMES INCREASINGLY CLEAR WHY THE MAN (AND BY DEFAULT THE USER) IS ANXIOUSLY HEADED TO VISIT HIS MOTHER ON A WINDING ROUTE THAT LANDS THEM SUDDENLY AT THE END OF THE LINE.
